  It is important that all personnel concerned with the installation, operation and maintenance of Fitzpatrick and related equipment have ample opportunity to study the contents of the supplied operating and maintenance manual. We request that copies be provided to the appropriate people for their initial study and ready reference, in order that the equipment may be installed, operated and maintained effectively and safely. To users of older Fitzpatrick equipment (We arbitrarily define this as machines over 10 years old) As a responsible equipment manufacturer, we have always tried to supply only the best service and most reliable equipment to our customers. Your continued support and expanding use of our equipment is at least a partial indication that our efforts have been successful. The fact that we have been successful in building sturdy and reliable equipment and the over 10,000 older machines still in use confronts us with a new and serious challenge. We find ourselves forced to call upon you for help. While we believe our current equipment complies with present day safety standards, there are many older machines still in operation, which were manufactured long before those standards were practical, either from a technical or economic standpoint. Specifically, we refer to machines which are ten or more years old. These machines may not comply with current OSHA or similar safety standards. At the time of manufacture these current safety standards may not have been in existence. Alternatively, machines may have been modified or maintained by the user to a reduced safety standard. In these cases the equipment may not be used or installed as originally intended. We therefore insist that customers act on the following instructions: We have prepared a Safety Instructions Kit which can be downloaded in PDF format here or obtained from the Fitzpatrick Company. These instructions should be understood and implemented.
