The FitzMill® is offered in 11 models with capacities
from a few grams to thousands of kg/hr.
Scale up can be performed based on laboratory tests. The following table
can be used to obtain capacity factors for scale up purposes:

- Throughput relative to Model D-6 at same Tip Speed
- Tip Speed = tip speed factor x operating speed
- With type 125, 225 or 425 blades
- With V-belt drive at maximum R.P.M.
Scale up to larger units can be calculated by using
the capacity factors of the above table. This is illustrated with the following
example:
A Model FASO8 produces 500 kg/hr at 2500 rpm. The capacity of a DKAS12 can
be calculated as: 500 x 2.36 / 1.83 = 645 kg/hr.
In order to obtain the same process results, the throat, screens, rotor
and feed rate should be kept identical. The rotor tip speed should be identical
as well. This means that the rotor speed of the DKASO12 should be 2500 x
3.70 / 2.75 = 3360 rpm.
Special attention should be taken not to exceed the maximum speed of the
