- Sizing wet granulations prior to drying.
Wet granulations are produced in a high shear granulator or blender
and can contain lumps up to 125 mm in diameter. If these lumps are fed
to a dryer they do not dry uniformly. Problems with drying a lumpy granulation
include case hardening, uneven moisture distribution, localized over
drying and extended drying times. The large hard lumps that would result
from drying the lumpy feed material can be hard to mill without causing
excessive fines. FitzSieve will typically process 3000-5000 kilos per
hour of wet product under flood feed conditions, producing a properly
sized granulation.
- Sizing of granulation after drying - Prior to
Tabletting
Typically, sizing of dried granulation is performed to reduce the oversize
material and create a free-flowing product. Typically the objective
is to reduce the granules to less than 1mm without generating excessive
powder. Typical FitzSieve model FS 200 capacity is 3000 to 5000 kg/hour
under flood feed condition from the discharge of the granulator/dryer.
- Tablet Reclamation
Grinding of off-spec tablets to be added back into the granulation is
an application for the FitzSieve. Advantages of the FitzSieve for this
application include low fines generation, low noise, choke feed and
high capacity. Typical capacity would be 700-1000 kgs/hr.
